What in the foodie name is this?


We'll admit, we were unaware fruit - or anything edible such as this - existed. Recently, one of our STELLAR customers was hosting a dinner party. One of the guest arrived at the party excited with jack fruit "pulled pork" sliders.


"When did fruit become meat?" the humorous thought entertained the host.

With food, you must be willing to step out of your box. If you're hesitant to do so, we found knowing the health benefits of your jack fruit can ease feeling overwhelmed.

Jack fruit originated in Australia prior to being grown in southeast Asia, near India and Bangladesh. Its gained popularity in international places China and Brazil. Jack fruit is also grown in tropical areas of Africa.


Jack fruit is relative to the tree of makings of mulberry and figs. Also known as jakfruit, jaca or nangka, it's also related to breadfruit, breadnut, champedak and marang, to name a few.


Jack fruit has also been considered to be associated with figs, mulberries and African breadfruit. Grown in the tropical climates of to believed the rain forests of Western Ghats of India, this upcoming fruit has made pathways in parts of Asia, the East Indies and the Philippines.

Jack fruit is also popular in Brazil. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, jack fruit is grown throughout the United States.


As jack fruit begins to appeal to us, we notice the versatile meat substitute is not as intimidating. Suddenly, I wanted to try the zesty and hickory smelling vegan "pulled pork" sliders that waited patiently for the party host to answer its arrival.

As the host prepared the guests by blessing the table with Traditional Grace, everyone was grateful for jack fruit's taste, savor and just plain ol' nutrients.

1. Jack fruit enhances the immune system.

Jack fruit contains antioxidants and cancer-fighting phytonutrients, lignans,isoflavones and saponins.
